Hi, I’m Matt La Rue

I build data systems that people can trust and use. I’m a data engineer and consulting lead at Lovelytics, where I still work hands-on with Python, SQL, Google Cloud, Airflow, Databricks, and Looker while leading a 15-person delivery team.

My current work supports a global beauty company across e-commerce, digital analytics, supply chain, and its data platform. I’ve led the data side of a Shopify migration across 11 brand-region sites, kept reporting consistent through the cutovers, and helped teams make sense of GA4 data across 15+ brands. I also reduced BigQuery slot usage and cost by more than 20% by tuning Airflow workloads.

Before Lovelytics, I worked on cloud data engineering at Gordon Food Service and on product, customer, and marketing data at KEH. I like projects where the technical details matter, but so does explaining the result clearly to the people making decisions.
